HHB Agency is open to receiving submissions.

Please check our website to ensure we offer the kind of representation you are looking for. We do not handle scripts or screenplays, science-fiction, fantasy or children’s books.  As we are a small agency, we only represent authors based within Europe.

Making a submission

Submissions should be sent via email to: submissions@hhbagency.com

We do not accept postal submissions.

Please set out your covering letter in the body of your email and then add your submission material as attachments in Word format.

Your covering letter should include a brief pitch for your book (just a few sentences) and some relevant information about you and your writing background.

Non-fiction writers:  Please send us the first three chapters or about 50 pages, together with a synopsis or summary of your proposed chapter outline.  There is no need to wait until you have completed the work, to submit.  Generally, you should include in your cover email why you are interested in the subject, why you are the right person to be writing about it and who you anticipate your readers to be.

Fiction writers:  Please send us the first three chapters or about 50 pages, together with a one or two-page synopsis that sets out the arc of your story and includes the ending, so that we can understand its trajectory.  Please do not send us material until you have completed the work and feel it is in its best possible shape.  It is useful to reference comparison titles and/or authors in your covering letter.

What happens next:

You should receive an automatic email from the agency confirming receipt of your submission.  (Please check your junk mail if you haven’t received this.)

We take up to eight weeks to consider a submission.  If you have not heard back from us within that period, unfortunately that means we do not believe we are the right agency to represent your work at this time.  We apologise for not generally being able to respond to unsuccessful submissions, but we are a small agency and sadly it is not possible for the time being - we are currently receiving too many submissions to be able to do that.

We would be grateful if you would keep us updated during that eight-week window if another agent has requested your full manuscript or if you have received an offer of representation from another agency.
