Orlando Murrin has all-round food experience, having worked as a recipe writer, demonstrator, editor, chef and podcaster. Until 1992 he was a magazine journalist, working on lifestyle and women's titles, including Cosmopolitan and Woman & Home (which he edited). From 1997-2004 he edited BBC Good Food and was the founding editor of Olive magazine. For 5 years he wrote a daily recipe column for the Daily Express newspaper. In 2004 he went to France to set up an award-winning, boutique, Bed & Breakfast, Le Manoir de Reynaudes, and then, in 2011, he returned to Somerset and established Langford Fivehead where he was hotelier / chef.

Orlando writes a weekly column for Waitrose Weekend and presents the BBC Good Food podcast. He has written eight books, including a memoir of his time in France A TABLE IN THE TARN (2008, HarperCollins) and his most recent cookbooks, both published by Ryland Peters & Small: TWO’S COMPANY (2021) and TWO’S COMPANY: SIMPLE (2022). He has wide interests, including gardening and music; he is an authority on Romanian pianist Dinu Lipatti (1917-1950). He is the President of the Guild of Food Writers and lives in Exeter and his debut novel (a culinary crime adventure) was published by Transworld in spring 2024.
