Celebrating the new
The week before last, both of us headed over to London Bridge to see Quarto’s new offices for an Agents’ Presentation. Tucked neatly next to Tate Modern, Quarto’s swanky new home was filled with agents keen to hear about the new direction and vision under the stewardship of Denise Bates. There is an as-yet-unnamed illustrated imprint launching which will be run by Eleanor Maxfield and there was a real feeling of a new dawn.
Elly attended the BATHINK launch party at Spencer House (photo as above) on 16th March and met some of the writers who had graduated from Bath Spa’s prestigious Creative Writing MA. Their cohort had completed their degree through lockdown so it was the first time many of them had met each other in person - despite having shared manuscripts, ideas, editorial guidance etc. Published in February 2023 the anthology of their work is a testament to their talent and the quality of the course.
Heather was at the Andre Simon Awards with our shortlisted client, Melissa Thompson. In the end it was Jeremy Lee who scooped the coveted prize for his long-awaited book COOKING WELL, FOR ONE OR MANY.
Rory Cellan-Jones has teamed up with Gillian Lacey-Solymar, Mark Mardell, Paul Mayhew-Archer, Sir Nicholas Mostyn and Jeremy Paxman to launch a new podcast series called MOVERS & SHAKERS talking about Parkinson’s disease.
