Eleanor Ford
Eleanor Ford is a cookbook author and a keen traveller, focusing her writing on making world cuisines accessible and capturing evocative flavours in home recipes. Having spent life from a young age visiting and living in Asia, Eleanor draws inspiration from her travels in her work.
As a journalist and member of the Guild of Food Writers, she has been a recipe editor and developer for the Good Food Channel, BBC Food and Good Food Magazine. Her work has also extended to food award judging, reviewing books and judging writing awards, as well as writing about restaurants. For Zagat, she was the local editor for the Hong Kong restaurant guide. She has also been a Time Out restaurant reviewer in both London and Hong Kong.
Eleanor’s first award-winning book SAMARKAND was co-written with Caroline Eden and published to great acclaim by Kyle Books in June 2016. She then wrote FIRE ISLANDS: RECIPES FROM INDONESIA, published by Murdoch Books in May 2019, which won the Edward Stanford Travel Writing Award, Guild of Food Writers Award, Der Deutsche Kochbuchpreis and two Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. THE NUTMEG TRAIL, an exploration of the centuries of the spice trade and how the fragrant flavours of spices have changed the way the world cooks, was published by Murdoch Books in the UK and Australia, and Apollo publishers in the United States and Canada in 2022.
