Anthony Gladman

Anthony Gladman is an award-winning drinks writer from London.  He invites us to deep-dive into a world where beer, cider and spirits all have something to say about the ways we live now.

He won the prestigious Guild of Food Writers’ ‘Drinks Writer’ Award in 2022, for which judges said: ‘He paints a picture with his words that is wonderfully immersive and makes us want to never stop reading. He writes stories that are compelling, entertaining, precise, rich with hilarity and fizzing with well-researched information about his subject’.

In the same year he was also awarded the British Guild of Beer Writers' award for 'Best Communication about Sustainability in Beer and Pubs'. Judges praised his ability to make the technical side of his subject not just accessible but engaging.

Anthony began writing features for trade and consumer magazines in 2019 and has contributed to: CAMRA, Ferment, VinePair, Good Beer Hunting, Brewer & Distiller International Magazine, Drinks Retailing News, Pellicle, October, Winerist and The Good Pub Guide.  Before that, he had 20 years’ experience as a book editor in the academic publishing trade and a diploma in creative writing (awarded with distinction) from London’s Birkbeck College.

Anthony is a member of the Guild of Food Writers, the British Guild of Beer Writers and the North American Guild of Beer Writers.  He judges at beer, cider and spirits competitions including Great Taste Awards, the World Beer Awards, World Gin Awards and the International Beer Challenge.  He is a qualified Beer Sommelier, one of only a handful in the world and is training to become a Cider Pommelier (of whom there are even fewer).

Anthony’s first book GIN: A TASTING COURSE is a flavour-focused approach to the world of gin and was published by DK in 2023.
