Alex Mitchell
Alex Mitchell is a writer and gardener who has grown her own fruit, salad, herbs and vegetables for ten years. She studied at the Chelsea Physic Garden and for five years her columns in the Sunday Telegraph entertained readers with her experiences of turning her London garden into an edible Eden. For some years she also had a weekly full page gardening column in the Homes and Property section of London’s Evening Standard.
Alex is the author of five gardening books, the first of which, THE GIRL’S GUIDE TO GROWING YOUR OWN was published by New Holland in 2009. Since then, Alex has written THE EDIBLE BALCONY (Kyle Books, 2011), THE RURBANITE (Kyle Books, 2013) and GARDENING ON A SHOESTRING (Kyle Books, 2015).
Alex’s latest book CROPS IN TIGHT SPOTS was published in 2019 by Kyle Books. It is a fabulous guide for those who would like to grow their own delicious fruit and vegetables but do not have much space.
Alex Mitchell lives and gardens in Kent, with her partner and two sons.
