Adam Hart

Adam Hart is a freelance journalist and historian from west Wales. He has written for the Times Magazine, the Telegraph, the Western Mail, Cycling Weekly and others.

Adam has an undergraduate degree in history from Exeter University and a News Journalism Masters from Cardiff University. It was during his time at Cardiff he won a travel journalism scholarship to retrace his great grandfather’s WW2 escape. He was commissioned by the Telegraph to write one 1,200-word article about his journey, but things got rather out of hand and he ended up writing a book. Operation Pimento will be published by Hodder and Stoughton in June 2025.

It tells the story of Adam’s great grandfather Frank Griffiths who was shot down dropping supplies to the French Resistance in August 1943. Frank, the only survivor, spent the next 108 days on the run, assisted by ordinary people - children, villagers, farmers, rebels and soldiers. He managed to make his way to safety in Gibraltar, 1,400 miles from his original crash site, via a Frenchwoman's chimney, the attic over a brothel and a Spanish prison cell, not to mention an arduous trek over the Pyrenees.

Adam has recently moved from Wales to London and is still learning how to use the Tube.
