Sarah Griffin kept a diary during her teenage years and through its remarkable entries recorded the heartfelt and emotional story of her father’s depression and how she, her mother Carol, and three sisters tried to cope with what came to be known in their family as ‘our secret’. In due course, her diary became a way of trying to understand, and bear, her father’s more serious illness and death. In spite of the trials she has had to undergo at a young age, Sarah is a positive, charming and articulate young woman now studying English and Philosophy at Leeds University. Virgin Books published SARAH’S DIARY in 2007, with the Guardian describing it as ‘brave and unflinching’.
