Dave Nasser was the proud owner of a very, very large dog. His name was George and, as of 2010, he was the Guinness World Record Holder for Tallest Living Dog & Tallest Dog Ever. He stood almost four feet tall and stretched over seven feet long, it is hard to believe that when Dave and his wife Christie first saw George in Oregon in 2006, they picked him out as the runt of a litter of thirteen great danes. Five years later and George became a much-loved canine celebrity, famous enough to be invited onto the Oprah Winfrey Show to take part in a ‘That’s Incredible’ feature. With his very own fan base, run by a dedicated Giant George Team based in Tucson, Arizona where he lived, George was very much the rock-star of the dog world – consuming 110lbs of food every month, riding around in a golf-cart and sleeping on a Queen size bed.
Dave Nasser’s book, GIANT GEORGE: LIFE WITH THE WORLD’S BIGGEST DOG, tells the heart-warming and extraordinary story of life with the small Great Dane puppy that grew into a celebrity record-breaker. It was published by Simon & Schuster in 2011.
Dave Nasser lives with his wife Christie, their children Annabel and Luke. Very sadly Giant George passed away in October 2013, just before his eighth birthday.
