Miranda Ballard, a drama graduate and former PA to Sir David Frost, co-founded Muddy Boots Real Foods Ltd with her husband in 2009. Muddy Boots produces really top end meat products like beef burgers and meatballs. After 350 farmers’ market and food shows in their first 18 months, their range of products is now stocked with Waitrose and Ocado. In 2013, they turned down a contract with Tesco in favour of opening their own chain of “modern meat shops”, the first of which launched in North London in April 2014.
In 2010, Muddy Boots featured in BBC1’s High Street Dreams and, in 2012, Miranda was one of the faces of the government’s support campaign for small business in 2012. Miranda was also listed in Management Today’s 35 women under 35 in 2013.
Miranda’s first cookbook, BURGERS AND SLIDERS: 30 CLASSIC AND GOURMET RECIPES FOR THE ORIGINAL FAST FOOD, was published by Ryland, Peters and Small in Spring 2013 and her second, CHARCUTERIE (Ryland, Peters and Small) was published in October 2014.
